Check maps, tour guide recommendations and photos others have shot to build a shot list of the places you want to shoot. Change always favors the prepared mind. Second: Camera gear can get heavy so only bring what you need. I always limit myself to bringing two lenses, one body, memory cards, filters and batteries as my minimum kit. When you're out there adventuring shooting photos a heavy bag is only going to slow you down. Third tip: shoot lots of photos. when you think you've got shot shoot a few more from different angles and different compositions. When you get home and look at your photos you might find that the initial shot you liked might not be the one you love. If you're in a place you may never go back to again it never hears to take more photos than you need.
