In this video, I will show you how to reset or recover your Amazon EC2 instance PEM key (SSH) file. This is a common problem that many AWS users face when they lose access to their EC2 instances due to missing PEM key file.
First, we will take a backup/snapshot of the volume used by the current EC2 instance. We will create a temporary EC2 instance in the same region as your current EC2 instance. Stop the current EC2 instance, detach the volume, and attach it to the new temporary EC2 instance. Mount drive on new ec2 instance and replace ssh public key in file .ssh/authorized_keys file. Attach the disk back to the EC2 instance.
