Transistor voltage regulator (and zener diode as voltage regulator) can be used to get a fixed voltage at the output.
A constant Voltage level can be maintained automatically with the help of a voltage regulator.
A Voltage regulator may use electronic components or electromechanical mechanism to maintain a constant level of voltage.
It is possible to regulate one or more AC or DC voltages with the help of a voltage regulator depending on its design.
Voltage regulator ensures that the voltage doesn't drop even on applying a load.
So a voltage regulator has two functions-
To regulate or vary the output voltage of the circuit.
To keep the output voltage fixed at a certain value, even on any change in load current or variations in the supply voltage.
