This September London-based duo krankbrother mark their debut for Classic, dropping two new originals with the ‘One Eyed Jack’s EP’.
Brothers Danny and Kieran Clancy form the DJ duo krankbrother who through several years running successful parties across London under the same name have recently stepped into the studio and taken the next step in their promising career. Following a debut EP on Defected Records off-shoot label DFTD which dominated the top of Traxsource’s ‘Top 100’ chart the pair ready their second release for Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon’s ever-impressive Classic.
‘Freak In Motion’ is a no-nonsense P-Funk cut - a Romanthony-esq male vox is sublimely worked over punchy percussion, rolling bass and resonating intonations to dish up an infectious groove-laden track. The second offering ‘One Eyed Jack’s’ is much more striped back affair, Danny & Kieran utilise a spoken word vocal uttering “jack me ‘til I scream” seamlessly wrapped around whirring atmospherics, shifting drums and a bouncy bass line to deliver a raw and robust closer reminiscent of old school Chicago tracks that are so influential to the duo.
