Community. Cheer. Connection. The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has been bringing these things, along with much-needed food shelf fundraising to towns and cities across the CP network since 1999.
It was a tradition for many, including myself (and some we talked to in this video) to see the train every year as it made its way along the Delaware & Hudson. The last year the train made its tour was in 2019, and as we will see, the community was more than ready to receive the train again in 2022.
We visit the quiet border town of Rouses Point, NY to watch the train deadhead south to Albany. A couple of days later, it's south down Lake Champlain to the small town of Port Henry, NY. We meet some members of the community before watching the show from the thick of the crowd as darkness falls. With the train flying north to another show in Plattsburgh, we sprint north, grabbing shots in the small towns of Westport, Essex, and Willsboro before our final location in Port Kent.
Many reminders could be found throughout the day that Canadian Pacific is a freight hauling railroad, and we caught southbound ethanol 528 leaving Bluff Point as we headed home.
This video shows the whole performance from the air, check it out!
