Ring is the dominant player in smart doorbells these days. Unfortunately, after promising Homekit support more than three years ago ( announced in 2016) they have been unable to delivery on their commitment to their customers.
Fortunately, HomeAssistant can help us to deal with some of the pain.
In this video, we’ll look at first adding the Ring component to your existing HomeAssistant setup ( see • HOW TO Connect Home Assistant to Appl... for more info if you haven’t gotten that setup yet ).
Once that’s done we’ll do a quick tour of what gets exposed to Homekit.
Final assessment is that it’s just not worth the effort unless you’re REALLY focused about making sure you have everything in a single spot. I guess we just keep hoping that Ring will actually deliver on it’s promises, I’m not holding my breath though.
