Cungulla Sunrise From a DJI Phantom 3 Standard Drone at Haughton River Mouth, Townsville, Australia
Filmed from a DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone. South of Cape Ferguson is 15 km of sandy shore, ending at the 1 km wide mouth of the Haughton River. The beaches all face east, turning slightly north-east toward the river. A 10 km long road from the highway at Clevedon runs out to the southern end of Big Beach and Cungulla, both of which have scores of shacks and holiday houses.Cungulla Beach (882) lies on the northern shore of the Haughton River mouth and is a narrow, curving, east facing high tide beach, fronted by tidal flats up to 2 km wide that end at the deep river channel. An arm of the channel sweeps past the northern end of the beach, providing good boat access to the river. The entire beach is backed by a housing and shack settlement.
