Our sharks get fed three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1 p.m. During feeding, our aquarists use PVC training pipes and tongs at platforms near the surface of our Ocean Habitat to target train our sharks for their meals.
Did you know sharks only need to eat 1%-10% of their total body weight in food per week? Their cold-blooded nature means they burn less energy, and they can survive off the oil stored in their liver! 💪
At SEA LIFE, our Grey Reef sharks enjoy a diet of herring, squid, salmon, bonito, and capelin. Whitetip Reef sharks feast on herring, squid, and capelin, while our Zebra Sharks get a tasty mix of clam, herring, squid, capelin, salmon, and ray gel 🐟
