Northern Lights seen across Maryland
Many Marylanders who looked up to the sky Thursday night got a treat. Meteorologist Ava Marie explains how the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, could be seen through clear skies in Maryland. In the video above, she explains how big pulses of energy from the sun go down through the Earth's magnetic fields to the poles, exciting oxygen gases in the atmosphere, which causes the great colors.
