Burkina Faso has been a member of the Economic Community of West African States dubbed ECOWAS, since the organization was founded in 1975.
Earlier this year, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali announced their withdrawal from the bloc. The countries had earlier been suspended from ECOWAS due to military takeovers of their respective governments.
In an attempt to resolve matters and bring back issues to normal, ECOWAS has sent Africa’s youngest president, Basirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal, to beg for the return of Burkina Faso to the block.
Basirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, commonly known as Diomaye, is a Senegalese politician and former tax inspector, serving as the fifth and current president of Senegal.
