Once you attain the rank of Knight Protector, you can talk to Varus Vantinius in Ebonheart (next to the Duke Vedam Dren) and he'll task you with retrieving Lord's Mail and Chrysamere, which have both been lost.

Both are some of the best artifacts in the game. Chrysamere is probably the strongest Long Blade in the base game and Lord's Mail is tied with Dragonbone Cuirass for the title of Best Heavy Cuirass.

You'll have to give them to Varus Vantinius, but you can get them back during the next quest.
