“Let me refer in this context to a manifesto issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (@ACEAauto). They issued a manifesto referring to the minimum safety regulations that we promote. And they said, "we are willing to put this in every vehicle that will sell on every market worldwide". To then add in very small letters “once it is required by the country”.
“So we see these non safe vehicles selling at a gross price as similar vehicles that cost the same here in Europe with all the safety features, I think this creates something of a nice additional revenue for the industry.
"The question is whether this is ethic, this is fair, or not.
“The @unitednations regulations provide a legislative and regulatory framework that is globally ethical.
“They are there, ready to use, off the shelf, they don't cost one single cent.
“I have never seen a national regulation that forbids to put on their market, vehicles that are safer than those described in national legislations.”
