Update: ITS THE JPEG. People just open up the standard JPEG photo from the card and do a side by side. I would never use that, I'm working with RAW format. So the 12mp vs 48mp in JPEG is a little better (not 48 megapixel good, but still better) and then the RAW photos are mostly the same.
Mavic Air 2 - First look with some Initial Thoughts, this is NOT a full review, just posting actual footage because of how much debate there is without results.
GOOD:
Small improvement to the sensor makes a nicer image
4K 60fps looks as good as 24fps, I was worried about data loss being noticable
Super small and cool, built sturdy, great to pose with and send pictures to mom
Great connection super far away
It's an $800 so chill out and be happy it can do all this
BAD:
I was sadly spot on about 48mp being a hollow promise. Experimented further, turns out the 48mp JPEG is a little better, but not the RAWs. The RAWs are the only ones I would work with.
Also means 8K hyperlapses are going to be "8K" the way your iphone in 2011 was shooting "4K"
I don't know what this quad bayer sensor is supposed to do if it divides pixels into 4 smaller, 25% as strong pixels. Maybe I don't know enough about it
Essentially, photos have changed not much in this drone, but that's okay they were already great
