Did you know tooltips (aka 'field descriptions') aren't available on scorecards in Looker Studio? They're only available on tables. 😥
But... I just came up with a little trick to make this happen.
Here's how...
1. Create a table with the same metrics you have in your scorecards.
2. On the table turn on 'field descriptions' (aka tooltips).
3. Make the table header background transparent.
4. Remove the row numbers.
5. Remove pagination.
6. Center all the columns.
7. Set 'Do not show' on chart headers.
8. Adjust the size of the table so the metrics are not visible.
9. One your scorecards, select 'Hide Metric Name'
10. Then overlay the table on your scorecards and center over the values.
That's it - now you have the same tooltip functionality available on tables for scorecards.
