Disco Elysium is my Worst Nightmare
So, there’s the Disco Elysium lawsuit stuff going on, and I really hope Robert Kurvitz and Martin Luiga and the others manage to take back Disco Elysium from ZA/UM - seriously.
Anyhow, this video was recorded without prep, without a script - entirely off the goop and without reason, so if it seems more belligerent than usual, that’s why! It’s weird since, Undertale had its 10th anniversary recently, and despite mentioning it in the vid I didn't know about that till a week after. Pretty neat.
Oh god now the description is as incoherent as the video. So, this game is a treat, the writing and dialogue is tasty, the world is as depressing and isolating as our own. Since I haven’t beaten the first day in game yet, this isn’t really a vid about the game, but about my early experiences playing it…and I like it, but ahhaskjdfhfdfhsjd
After Cyberpunk and Arcane I feel like I’m on a hot streak of media including corporations vs society, but I especially appreciate that Disco doesn’t just use this dystopian landscape (that we currently occupy) as a backdrop, but rather, a tangible and essential aspect of the story and gameplay.
Alright, Dro out. I have more thoughts about this game, especially since the video was a little dizzying structurally, but I think if I write another word YouTube will take away my description section.
