The gliders never really attracted me much.
But I've often heard from other pilots that flying a glider is a special feeling.
And 99% of these people told me that the most unusual thing about flying on a glider is silence. When there is no engine noise, when only you are around, the wind and the clean, unclouded nature of non-motorized flight. For a long time, I put the whole thing on the back burner, but then suddenly one of my friends went flying on a glider and enthusiastically talk about it.
Then I met my Ukrainian friend and student, who also turned out to be a fan of gliders. Then I suddenly found myself in a crowd of Russian-speaking pilots at the Sun'n'Fun exhibition and there were a lot of glider fans there. And all this is intertwined in such a tangle when it is simply indecent to pull further - you have to take and try.
I ended up at HomeStead, 20 miles south of Miami, home of one of Florida's glider schools, and preparing for my glider flight - and all this to share a new video with you all.
