Joseph "Flash" Gordon was a model of consistency throughout his 11-year Major League career with the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians. Gordon made his debut on April 18, 1938, and belted 25 home runs in his rookie season with the Yankees. He hit .322 in 1942 en route to the American League Most Valuable Player Award and was named to the AL All-Star team nine times. He hit 20 or more home runs in seven seasons and drove in at least 100 runs four times. Gordon won four World Series titles with the Yankees and one with the Indians in 1948.
