Learn about books I recommend if you are interested in Malware Analysis and Evolution of Malware Technology.
To learn about early days of malware and anti-malware technology (90s to 2005) read "The Art of Computer: Virus Research and Defense", by Pater Szor. You will be surprized how much new and relevant information you will get from it.
"Mastering Malware Analysis", by Alexey Kleymenov and Amr Thabet, is
a great table top and reference book for malware analysis and malicious techniques. It is very broad, thus, a great first source of information if you need to learn or refresh your memory.
"Rootkits and Bootkits: Reversing Modern Malware and Next Generation Threats", by Alex Matrosov, Eugine Radionov, and Sergey Bratus, is a great resource to learn about modern and previous generation rootkits/bootkits. The book contains great walk-through analysis for TDL3, Rovnix and Gapz. It covers evolution of rootkits/bootkits through last 15 years.
