Russia’s arms export agency, Rosoboronexport, reports that the first export contract for the Su-57 fifth-generation stealth fighter jet has been signed.
However, it was not mentioned which country would be the first customer and how many aircraft would be exported.
"This system of military-technical cooperation will bring new models of weapons and military equipment to the market. By the way, the Su-57, we have signed the first contract for this aircraft," Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev said in an interview with Rossiya 1 (VGTRK) TV channel in Zhuhai, China, reported by TASS news agency.
Mikheyev also explained the expectations and impact of the Russian defense equipment demonstration at Airshow China 2024.
The economic impact is that we are present on the market and our partners from friendly countries want to buy reliable and proven Russian weapons, and, thus, support our industry with export orders so that we can develop further and from generation to generation we are used to creating new products for the next 10-15 years,” he said.
Earlier, Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Russian state technology corporation Rostec, stated that the Su-57 is the only fifth-generation aircraft in the world that has demonstrated its outstanding performance characteristics in all combat scenarios.
This fighter jet also has impressive survivability due to its low radar signature and advanced onboard defense systems.
