Greets friends. Here's a fun beatbox & fingerstyle guitar blues tune called "Play it Back". It's a blues of sorts - the main melody & bassline are Dr. Lonnie Smiths.
I had the pleasure of playing with Dr. Lonnie at his house several times, and played some jazz festivals and clubs in NYC with him. When I saw how much fun he had & gave the audience, that really re-awakened my desire to have fun playing music!

The middle sections are my invention plus quotes of Chuck Brown's Bustin Loose and one of James Brown's most famous grooves.
Keeping a straight face, not choking on my own breath or spit, and putting the groove in the pocket were the challenges here! After several takes I chose the groove I like best. Enjoy!

I played this song on a Cole Clark Fat Lady Guitar (FL 2AC), and recorded audio on 2 RODE NT5 mics into a ZOOM H4, then mixed in Garage Band.
