The Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro is a must stop for anyone visiting the city and is also a beautiful refuge sought by those who live here ... it is one of my favorite places in Rio!

The Royal Garden, how it was called when it was created, was commissioned by D. João VI in 1808, king of Portugal and Brazil

Today the area holds about 6,500 Brazilian and foreign species, some of which are threatened by extinction, spread over 54 hectares.
