The Montelo '63 with their self-titled album is a creation of jazz guitarist Takis Barberis known for jazz projects such as Iskra and the Jazz Fusion Quintet.
The Montelo '63 sometimes stumbles between melancholy and seriousness, laziness and lightness, with music that you can't just call pop but neo-pop with a lot of experimental rock formats.
The tracks are dressed in smart socio-erotic lyrics.
Where there are no lyrics, there are gorgeous instrumentals like "On the Moon".
Of course, they didn't add much to the long-awaited Greek rock scene, except this release.
Nevertheless, it is a pleasant listen as you will come to mind bands of Greek-speaking rock from Pavlos Sidiropoulos to the White Symphony.
