I used the Torque Pro app to diagnose a P0128 code on my car, which is related to the engine's coolant temperature. After noticing that my check engine light had come on and suspecting an issue with the cooling system, I connected the Torque Pro app via a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter to my car’s ECU.

Once connected, I scanned for fault codes and quickly found a P0128 code, which indicates that the engine was not reaching its proper operating temperature within a specific time frame. This is often caused by a stuck-open thermostat or a faulty coolant temperature sensor.

With Torque Pro’s live data feature, I monitored the coolant temperature while driving. I noticed that the engine wasn’t warming up as quickly as it should, and the temperature remained lower than normal, confirming the suspicion of a faulty thermostat.

After reviewing the data and confirming the diagnosis, I decided to replace the thermostat. I drained the coolant, removed the old thermostat from the housing, and installed a new one. Once the new thermostat was in place, I refilled the coolant and bled the system to remove any air pockets.

After completing the repair, I cleared the P0128 code using the Torque Pro app and took the car for a test drive. This time, the engine reached its normal operating temperature, and the check engine light did not return. Torque Pro allowed me to both diagnose the issue and confirm the success of the repair.
