Near-death experience hiking in Banff | how it changed the way I travel
This is how a promise to my late grandfather led myself, my partner and some buddies to Banff, Alberta. With my expectations set too high, in pursuit of fulfilling this promise to see Lake Moraine, I was ungrateful for the journey that was ahead...That is, until my friend fell down the summit of Fairview Mountain in Banff Alberta, changed my perspective on travel.
I've realized, that building an expectation for any place is a means of setting yourself up for disbelief. Especially when it seems like everyone on social media is highlighting how beautiful a destination can seem.
In reality, the people you make the trip with, the people you meet, the animals, the learning, and ultimately the journey is whats most important.
