Shannon Phillips, the Alberta NDP's former environment minister, has decided to leave office on July 1. Her departure comes barely one year after she was elected to a third term as MLA for Lethbridge-West. Phillips says harassment and surveillance have taken a ‘real toll,' partly referring to Lethbridge police officers' improper surveillance of her.
