History was made at YYJ on Friday, as Tanker 55 made a spectacular arrival for its last time taking to the skies.
The British Columbia Aviation Museum received a new addition to to their collection of aircraft on Friday, September 23, 2022. Conair Aerial Firefighting gave the museum one of their recently retired air tankers, flying from Abbotsford Airport to Victoria Airport where the aircraft made one final pass, dropping water one the runway before landing for the last time. This was also pilot, Grahame Wilson's last flight on the aircraft. Victoria Airport congratulated the arrival of the aircraft, and Grahame Wilson's retirement with a water salute after landing.
The aircraft, a Conair 580, had flown for Conair Aerial Firefighting, helping to battle wildfires throughout BC during its 20 years of service with Conair. It will now be on display at the BC Aviation Museum.
