Across sub-Saharan Africa, degraded soil threatens the growth of food crops and creates a major problem for local farmers.
In 2021, our global community initiative to tackle inequality, known as Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, provided support and seed funding to female climate-tech entrepreneur Audrey Darko. She’s working with farmers in Ghana to adapt to climate change by turning bio-waste into fertilisers to improve the health of their soil.
Audrey’s imaginative thinking is helping over 500 farmers. The support we’ve provided is part of our efforts to unleash the potential of female entrepreneurs in our markets, and to empower people who are helping the transition to net zero.
