In one of his most ambitious and imaginative creations yet, Meanwhile in the Garage takes the world of micro-mobility to the next level by building what might just be the smallest electric car in the world entirely from scratch.
What starts as a go-kart frame evolves into a fully enclosed, street-style microcar, complete with a custom-built transparent canopy, high-performance drivetrain, and futuristic aesthetics that blur the line between engineering and art.
The centerpiece of the project is undoubtedly the aerodynamic canopy, which draws direct inspiration from the builder’s previous venture: the rainproof Yamaha YZF1000 R1 motorcycle. In that earlier project, Meanwhile in the Garage crafted a full cockpit enclosure from wire mesh, foam, and vacuum-formed polycarbonate, a groundbreaking modification that protected the rider from the elements while improving airflow. That same ingenuity is now applied at a new scale. The car’s dome follows the same eye-catching process.
But this time, the innovation goes further. Hinges and mirror-mounted lighting systems complete the transformation, resulting in a compact vehicle that’s as functional as it is visually striking.
Powered by a clean, silent electric motor, this microcar delivers instant torque, agile handling, and urban-ready performance all while turning heads and raising questions about the future of sustainable, custom mobility.
