Some footage from a Panasonic WVP-A2. This camera uses an external mic and I forgot to take it with me when I went out which is why there is no live sound.
This is quite a good little camera. There is title generator which plugs in and clips on the back (although I didn't use it in this video). It's very light and compact for a camera of the time. It has auto-focus and motorised zoom (although the zoom on this one isn't working. The focus can be switched between auto and manual and there is also a button than can be pressed when in manual mode to enable the auto-focus for the duration that the button is held.
There is an outdoor filter on the lens which is also enable by a switch and the white balance can be set as usual by pointing the camera at a blank white surface and pressing a button. There is also an adjustment dial for the white balance to move the balance more towards either blue or red. It features auto gain control on the video and fade in/out.
The camera was designed for use with the separate VHS recordeer units of the time using the de facto standard 10 pin connector, specifically the NV-180 and there was a shoulder mount fame available that held both the camera and recorder unit (the frame was sold under the name 'camcorder'). The camera has buttons on it to control the recorder. Although I do have an NV-180, I used an Hitachi VT-6500 to record this footage.
