The most interesting geological fact about Enderts Beach isn't necessarily about the beach itself, but rather what lies beneath it! Enderts Beach sits atop a geologic formation known as the Klamath Accretionary Wedge. This wedge is a massive collection of ocean floor sediments that were scraped off tectonic plates millions of years ago and then accreted, or stuck, onto the continental margin.

Enderts Beach exposes a fascinating cross-section of these ancient ocean floor sediments. The rocky cliffs and tidepools showcase a variety of rock types like greywacke, shale, and chert, all remnants of past ocean environments. Studying these rocks allows geologists to piece together the history of the Pacific Ocean floor and understand the complex tectonic forces that have shaped the California coastline.

It's no surprise that filmmaker Roman Khomlyak was inspired to capture the beauty and power of the ocean when he discovered this secluded spot not far from the filming location in Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. Roman and his second operator, Mykhailo, stumbled upon this beach after a day of filming redwoods in the park, and the mesmerizing atmosphere immediately caught their attention. Roman ventured down to the water, armed with his Panasonic GH6 camera, to capture this incredible soundscape that offers relaxation, improved sleep, and a wellspring of inspiration for all who seek it.
