This tool can open smart key locks quickly. First you will insert a kwikset key blade that has been cut to depth 3. When you slide this into the keyway, the wafers will be positioned at their weakest point. Next you will insert the Smart Key Dumb Tool at the end of the key way. Combined with the key blade, it should fit perfectly as if you had a normal KW1 key inserted. Attach your half in socket wrench to then end and begin applying force in the unlock direction. When applying force, keep it medium strength and turn it slowly.
Note that the lock may or may not break all the way. Often times the functioning key will work but the Smart Key technology allowing owners to rekey instantly will not. I always recommend replacing this the lock after using this technique.

In my town, their is a new apartment complex that has these on every unit. I doubt the tenants would appreciate the lack of security the apartment association has provided them with.
