What is “marketing”? How can we define “marketing”?

Marketing seems to be a complex word that means nothing. I usually define it in 2 ways.

First of all, I like to define “marketing” as the whole process you put in place to make sales easier. I mean say, all the communications, systems, strategies, tactics, to grab people’s attention and to focus their attention on your Brand, products and services.

But there is another definition that I like the most: perception. I think that is the best word to describe what marketing does if you do it correctly. Build a perception regarding who you are, what you do, how your products or services can help your audience. It is all controlled by the perception other people have of your Brand.
