CBS Orlando INterview with Trial lawyer Kimberly Wald of The Haggard Law Firm -
“This verdict is all about accountability. The Sampson family never wants this type of horrific tragedy to occur again. They took the extraordinary steps to have the ride taken down and disassembled. They than went to the Florida Legislature and passed the Tyre Sampson safety bill which has changed how amusement park rides are inspected in Florida. And, they obtained substantial settlements from both ICON PARK (the amusement park owner) and Slingshot (the ride operator).”

“The Sampson family than took Funtime Handels to trial after they appeared in the Court case and withdrew. Even though lawyers and representatives of Funtime Handels attended inspections and previous Court hearings, they refused to face the Sampson family in Court at the trial of this case. We will now work with our Austrian co-counsel and record the judgment in Austria and begin collections. If there is any further refusal from Funtimes Handels to comply with the Court, we will ask the US Department of Commerce to prohibit Funtime Handels from selling their dangerous rides in the United States.”
