Diane Rehm Book Club: "Absolution" by Alice McDermott
For Diane's February Book Club, she is joined by Alice McDermott for a conversation about her novel, "Absolution." In this 2023 best-seller, McDermott transports readers to 1963 Saigon and tells the story of the American women brought to Southeast Asia by their husbands, and what their lives were like on the margins of the Vietnam War. They talked about moral obligation, moral ambiguity and how "Saigon Barbie" became central to the plot of the story.
