The story is about a clever and audacious impostor named Otto Witte who, with the help of his friend Max Hoffman, managed to impersonate the nephew of the Sultan of Constantinople, Halim Eddin, and become the king of Albania in 1913. Taking advantage of their striking resemblance and the chaos surrounding the search for a suitable king for the newly independent state, Otto and Max successfully fooled the Albanian people and authorities.
Upon their arrival in Albania, Otto assumed the role of King Halim Eddin, and the people warmly welcomed him. They believed him to be their rightful monarch and celebrated his coronation with great enthusiasm. However, their reign only lasted for five days before their deceit was revealed. The real Halim Eddin learned about the impostors and demanded an explanation. Realizing their deception had been exposed, Otto and Max swiftly fled the country, escaping with part of the state treasury.
The tale showcases the ingenuity and audacity of Otto Witte and his ability to create an entire illusion of royalty. Despite their deception, Otto and Max were not punished for their political prank and continued to live their lives, with Otto even enjoying a long life until his death on the anniversary of his coronation.
