Starting at the camp below Upper Conjuring Falls, I head back onto the river to undertake the final phase of this journey down Manitoba's Berens River. After Lower Conjuring Falls, I think it's a clear run to Grey Willow Falls but Kettle Falls is more awkward than expected. The camp below Grey Willow Falls was everything I had hoped for - spirit-level flat forest camping with enough breeze to keep the bugs away AND a wonderful view across to the falls. From here life got more interesting. Even the names of the rapids gets more interesting.... Kashepapekamuk Rapids, Kenkwaka Falls, Kaministikoskak Falls. In this section I saw my only black bear of the trip. After this it was down to Sturgeon Falls, the last portage of the trip. Poor weather then came in and hinted at the coming fall season. Despite the wind, I had an OK run down to my pick up at the Berens River Bridge, all fueled by good pan bread/bannock and coffee. A good end to a wonderful trip.
