Lorsque le journal de Detroit a publié des informations sur le magnifique chat tacheté, le généticien de renom, le Dr Clyde Keeler, a exprimé le désir de voir un chat domestique qui imiterait l'espèce sauvage éteinte. Dans cette optique, l'élevage a été répété et la race Ocicat est bel et bien née!
