Studio Art AP 2D Design Photography
An 8 Megapixel, or higher, Digital Camera and 2GB Flash Drive is required for this course or a 35mm camera (SLR or Point and Shoot, not Kodak Advantix) is required for this course.
Studio Art AP: 2D Design Photography addresses a range of visual processes and media through individual interpretation strictly related to students who interested in addressing and meeting the challenges of the AP Portfolio through an intense focus of the study of photographic processes. Through the Photography portfolio, students will achieve and demonstrate mastery of Composition Design, Concept, and Execution of works through a wide variety of media and approaches to art such as: realistic, abstract, or non-objective.The course emphasis will be placed upon the generation of artworks related to 2-D design Photography and the completion of the AP Portfolio criteria. Students will work on the creation of 15 works that demonstrate a Sustained Investigation of a theme of their own choosing intended to foster their artistic development while providing them the opportunity to address issues through personal interpretation to develop a stronger conceptual base and 5 Selected works that demonstrate quality and mastery of approaches. Due to the accelerated nature of the course, designed to mirror a college art class, students are required to complete a significant amount of work outside of studio time. The College Board recommendation breaks down to 5 hours of studio work and 5 hours of outside of studio work a week. Students will be required to purchase some materials for the generation of their artworks. The cost for each Advanced Placement course varies based on choice of materials and test registration fee. The fee for AP exams is approximately $90.00.Due to changes from the College Board, the timeline for registering for AP exams will move from February to Sept/Oct starting in the 19.20 school year. There is a $35.00 materials fee for this course. An year long Adobe Creative Cloud subscription is included for students enrolled in the course.
