So, why does Kong get to land the final blows on both MechaGodzilla and Skar King, and not Godzilla in the last two Monsterverse movies? I see both "Godzilla vs. Kong" and "Godzilla x Kong" as two parts of Kong's story arc. In the first, he's finding his way in this new world, seeking a home. In the second, he's uncovering ancient family truths and facing an evil that threatens him. It makes sense that Kong delivers the blows because he's the main character. However, if I were to suggest a better alternative, I wish that when Kong MechaGodzilla's off, Godzilla would blast it with his atomic breath to finally destroy Ghidorah's remains. This way, Kong would still mostly be responsible for MechaGodzilla's defeat, but Godzilla would have played a more active role. Regarding Skar King, I thought it was a perfect ending, but I wish we could have seen his shatter. Although the movie is titled "Godzilla & Kong," I believe these are essentially Kong's movies with Godzilla in them.
