http://gns3vault.com Backup interfaces are another method to deal with layer 2 loop-free topologies. You can configure an interface to be "active" with another interface as "backup". Spanning tree will be disabled for these interfaces and the backup interface only works when the active interface fails. This video walks you through the configuration.
