Inside Out 2 had a deleted scene that could have added a lot of fun to the movie. Titled “Pool Party,” this scene was set during a teenage pool party where Riley feels self-conscious about her body. The scene was meant to explore teenage awkwardness and self-loathing. Riley, wearing a colorful swimsuit Joy picked out, finds it inappropriate for the high school party. Originally, Anxiety was supposed to transform into Self-Loathing in this scene, but it was deemed too much of a "cardboard villain." Even though the scene was cut, it helped shape Anxiety’s role in the movie. It ensured that Anxiety always came from a place of love and protection for Riley.
